The
f/v “Winter King” is a custom built catamaran, measuring 32 feet long by 12 feet wide, and designed to comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests. Due to their twin hull design, catamarans are much more stable than single hull designs. Built entirely of composite materials, this boat is strong and lightweight. Twin Honda 225 outboard motors provide quiet, clean power and a 20 to 25 knot cruise capability, while offering redundancy in propulsion and electrical power. The cabin is a whopping 8 feet wide by 10 feet long, with a 6 foot, 10 inch ceiling. Large windows provide a panoramic view of Kachemak Bay from the comfort and safety of our heated cabin. The large aft deck is equipped with four Cannon Electric Downriggers and offers plenty of room for fighting and landing your fish. A full length, walk-around deck provides ample room for halibut fishing. And yes, we have a private, marine head (toilet) on board.
In
addition to full compliance with USCG safety regulations, the
Winter King is equipped with the following safety features:

The Skipper
Your
skipper, Rex Murphy,
is a life long avid fisherman who has discovered the thrill of fishing in Kachemak Bay and wants to share it with you. Raised in the Midwest, Rex first ventured to Alaska in 1973 and worked as a roustabout on the North Slope during the pipeline days, and later as a hot air balloon pilot. After 10 years in the lower 48 disguised as a software engineer, Rex returned to Alaska to pursue his true passion. Five years and countless fish later, his enthusiasm for the sport is fresh and infectious.
